Pros & cons
The honest breakdown.
What's great
- Full visual editor — best-in-class drag-and-drop design
- Ecwid commerce engine under the hood (reliable + feature-complete)
- Great for agencies already using Brizy for client sites
- Fast to design — you trade platform lock-in for speed
- Good middle ground between Wix and Shopify aesthetics
What to watch for
- Niche product — small user base compared to Shopify or Wix
- Migrations off Brizy are painful (we know — we migrated aapta.in off it)
- You're really paying for both Brizy + Ecwid underneath
- Not a great fit if you need custom development beyond the visual editor
Brizy Shop suits agencies that already love Brizy and want to extend to commerce without rebuilding. For standalone sellers, Ecwid directly or Shopify is usually a better bet. The visual editor is genuinely good, but the ecosystem is thin.
Ideal for
Agencies and freelancers already fluent in Brizy who want to add a store to client sites without switching tools.

Migration
Moving in, and moving out.
What it actually takes to get onto Brizy Shop (powered by Ecwid) — and how painful it is if you outgrow it later. No vendor lock-in surprises.
Moving to Brizy Shop (powered by Ecwid)
Here's what it typically takes to migrate from common starting points.
Typical time
1-3 days
Typical cost
$100 – $500
Since Brizy Shop uses Ecwid, product data 'migrates' trivially. You just re-skin the frontend with Brizy. Most common direction.
Leaving Brizy Shop (powered by Ecwid) later
How hard is it if this isn't the right platform for you in 2-3 years? (Honest vendor lock-in reality.)
Brizy's visual output is Brizy-specific — doesn't translate to other platforms. Ecwid products export fine (it's your real data), but frontend rebuild on the new platform is complete. Plan a 2-4 week migration if you leave.

SMBFAQ
People ask us this a lot.
Is Brizy Shop just Ecwid with a different interface?+
Essentially, yes — the commerce backend is Ecwid. What you're paying extra for is Brizy's visual editor. If you don't need the editor, use Ecwid directly and save money.
Can I migrate off Brizy Shop later?+
It's painful. The page builder's output doesn't translate cleanly to other platforms — you'll rebuild the frontend. Products are easier to move (Ecwid export). Plan for a rebuild if you outgrow it.
Why did Aapta itself move off Brizy?+
Honest answer: Brizy is a great visual builder, but we needed faster performance, better SEO controls, and a codebase we could own and extend. aapta.in is now on Next.js. Brizy is fine for small sites; for a growing business site, we outgrew it.
